Francisco Pérez of the Palm Beach Cardinals was one tough customer on the hill today. He blanked the Delmarva Shorebirds 4-0 on 5 hits, registering 10 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"When he's on, he's tough to hit," said the Delmarva manager after the game. "He's just a bulldog out there."
To date this season Pérez is 5-2 with 8 starts and an ERA of 2.75 with 46 strikeouts in 52.1 innings. |
 | Friday, May 14th, 2027: Lakeland's Stephens Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Dave Stephens put on a hitting clinic today as the Flying Tigers dumped the Blaze 13-3 at Ballpark of Lakeland. The Lakeland left fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Bakersfield pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game.
He told BNN reporters after the game that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."
D. Stephens singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Stephens has 3 home runs and a .296 batting average. |
 | Wednesday, May 12th, 2027: Great Day for Barajas -- 5 Hits
"Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," Palm Beach's Pedro Barajas told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well."
It definitely turn out well for Barajas today as he collected 5 hits in 7 at-bats against Lake Elsinore. It turned out well for his team, too, as the Cardinals knocked off the Storm 9-8 at Cardinals Ballpark.
P. Barajas walked in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 9th, struck out in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
Barajas is hitting .329 this year with no home runs, 15 RBIs and 41 runs scored. He has 57 hits in 173 at-bats, 13 walks and a .386 on-base percentage. Barajas has played in 38 games. |
