It has been in the rumor mill for several weeks, but today team officials for Kansas City and Chicago (N) confirmed an agreement. The Royals dealt 31-year old starting pitcher Michael Eckhardt to the Cubs for 20-year old minor league catcher Bob Lambert.
His record in 2028 is 5-5 in 11 starts and Eckhardt has a 5.14 ERA.

In a big move for both teams, the Las Vegas Gamblers are sending 31-year old first baseman Mark Curtiss, 30-year old closer Ovidio Gutierrez, 29-year old third baseman Christopher Puckett, 27-year old reliever Warren Owens and $1,000,000 in cash to the Chicago (N) Cubs for 19-year old minor league starting pitcher Brian Pemberton, 18-year old minor league starting pitcher Chris Teague, 22-year old minor league reliever Ánibal Torres, 36-year old first baseman Florentino Pina, 24-year old catcher Ben O'Foran, 38-year old first baseman Samuel Gladstone and 24-year old center fielder Bert Kidd. The agreement was announced today.
To date this season Curtiss is hitting .277 with 29 home runs.
In his 2028 season totals, Pina has 19 home runs, .291 BA, .351 OBP, 53 RBIs and 38 runs scored.

Robert Gehring of the Chicago (N) Cubs and Juan Guerrero of the Montreal Expos received official notice today from the league commissioner's office that they had been suspended 5 games for their roles in the on-field disturbance in a recent game at Wrigley Field.
In 2028 Gehring is batting .289 with 21 home runs.
So far this season Guerrero has 5 wins and 11 losses and a 6.36 ERA.
