Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 6 at-bats. But Jim Lynch did just that today for the Expos and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 29-year-old second baseman said after his record-setting performance.
J. Lynch walked in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, doubled in the 10th, singled in the 12th, walked in the 15th and was hit by a pitch in the 17th.

Blow was incensed in the loss to Chicago (N) and was just as angry after the game.
"These guys are a joke. How can people expect to take this game seriously when you have games like this?" Blow said in the locker room after the game.
Now Blow must face the consequences of this actions. League officials released this brief statement to the media: "We are regretful that Blow has taken this to the level that it has reached. The league will not tolerate this type of conduct. Due to his actions during and after the game, the league is suspending him for 2 games."
Posting a .236 batting average to date, Blow has 3 home runs and 32 RBIs. | | Wednesday, August 2nd, 2028: Samora Befuddles San Diego Sometimes even Riley Samora of Arizona isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.

Samora tossed a 6-hit shutout against them, totaling 4 strikeouts and giving up 2 walks.
Over the season Samora has thrown 121.2 innings and dished out 88 strikeouts with a 5-12 mark and a 4.81 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | CF Juan Rivera | strained rib cage muscle | 3-4 weeks | Not on DL | | SS Lee Thomas | torn tricep muscle | 8 weeks | 52 day(s) left (60-day DL) | | 3B Leonardo Sapienza | dislocated shoulder | 4 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 44-68, .393 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 28.0 GB | | Record at home | 22-38, .367 PCT | | Record on the road | 22-30, .423 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-5, .444 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 17-16, .515 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 11-9, .550 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 33-59, .359 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 7-14, .333 PCT | | Record in May | 9-18, .333 PCT | | Record in June | 9-17, .346 PCT | | Record in July | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in August | 4-6, .400 PCT |
