At the age of 30, Omer Mushawar might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Tampa Bay right fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the American League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 10 hits in 19 at-bats, 6 home runs and 14 RBIs last week in 5 games.
In 55 games this year Mushawar has posted a .299 average and put up these numbers: 24 home runs, 52 RBIs and 51 runs scored. |
| Sunday, June 1st, 2031: AL Announces Outstanding Batter Award
Omer Mushawar battered American League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.
"I've been around United Baseball League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 30-year-old Mushawar told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."
In 28 games, Mushawar hit .258 with 12 home runs, 27 RBIs and scored 29 runs.
Mushawar is batting .275 this season in 49 games with 18 home runs, 38 RBIs and 45 runs scored. He has 49 hits in 178 at-bats.
