| Breaking News | | Sunday, May 21st, 2028: Romero Smacks 5 Hits for Sky Sox What a day for Carlos Romero of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped Omaha pitching apart at Colorado Springs Grounds and sparked the Sky Sox to a 11-8 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Romero told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."
C. Romero doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In 2028 Romero is currently batting .361 with 4 home runs and 40 RBIs. In 47 games he has reached base at a .447 rate and scored 40 runs to date. | | Saturday, May 20th, 2028: Season Possibly Over for Joe Johnston The news is bad in Omaha. The Royals have lost the services of center fielder Joe Johnston for the rest of the season due to back spasms. Johnston was injured in a recent game with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox while making a defensive play and is expected to miss 7 months.
Johnston is batting .281 this year with 4 home runs, 32 RBIs and 26 runs scored. He has 52 hits in 185 at-bats. | | Sunday, April 30th, 2028: Aguilar Guns Downs 15 Royals It was a very special game for Eduardo Aguilar today at Sounds Ballpark in Nashville. He had the perfect delivery. The good fastball. The nasty curve. The batters mumbling and muttering when they swung and missed. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. In an unforgettable performance the 25-year-old Aguilar fanned 15 strikeouts Royals and sparked the Nashville Sounds to a 5-1 victory over Omaha.
His catcher commented, "I don't think I have seen him throw better. His location and command were really something."
In addition to his 15 strikeouts, Johnson allowed 4 hits and 1 walk in a superlative outing.
His manager added, "It's a manager's day off when you get pitching like that."
The Omaha skipper had no comment that was printable in the newspaper.
In 6 starts this season Aguilar has registered a 3-2 record and a 5.60 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 34-43, .442 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 13.0 GB | | Record at home | 19-18, .514 PCT | | Record on the road | 15-25, .375 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 5-3, .625 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 13-11, .542 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 7-11, .389 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 27-32, .458 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 6-14, .300 PCT |
