| Breaking News | | Sunday, May 21st, 2028: Romero Smacks 5 Hits for Sky Sox What a day for Carlos Romero of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped Omaha pitching apart at Colorado Springs Grounds and sparked the Sky Sox to a 11-8 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Romero told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."
C. Romero doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In 2028 Romero is currently batting .361 with 4 home runs and 40 RBIs. In 47 games he has reached base at a .447 rate and scored 40 runs to date. | | Thursday, May 11th, 2028: Hope Dims for Laine's Recovery Colorado Springs catcher John Laine sustained a torn ankle ligaments running the bases in yesterday's game against the Bees. It was only later, at the local hospital, that the severity of the injury became apparent. While the Sky Sox team doctor was confident Laine would make at least a partial recovery, he was less optimistic about his future in baseball. "Professional ballplayers need to be in peak physical condition. Unfortunately, John will be affected by this injury for the rest of his life."
| | Monday, April 10th, 2028: Sky Sox Unknown Will Miss Season Doctors in Colorado Springs said Joe Unknown may not play anymore this year. The Sky Sox catcher received a torn back muscle during a game against the Round Rock Express and will be out for at least 7 months. Club officials told BNN they did not expect him to return to the team this season.
