Jerome Bailey bent a little, but he didn't break against the Silver Hawks. The Lake County pitcher hurled a 5-hit 11-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and putting up 9 strikeouts.
"Jerome is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on-base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."

In an impressive mound performance, Nelson López of the Salem Avalanche checked the Lake County Captains on a 4-hitter and held them scoreless.
"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," said the Lake County manager. "López kept us confused the whole game."
The Salem hurler rang up 6 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in his 3-0 shutout victory.

 | Thursday, June 1st, 2028: ML's Top Hitter Announced
Buck Preston is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Lake County third baseman joined that select company when the Midwest League announced the results of May's voting.
Preston totaled 37 hits, 7 walks, 2 home runs, 22 RBIs and 15 runs scored last month to put together a .336 batting average and .393 on-base percentage.
In the current season, Preston has put up a .319 batting average with 69 hits, 3 home runs, 31 RBI and scored 37 runs.
