| Breaking News |  | Monday, August 7th, 2028: Midwest League Names #1 Player
23-year-old Benjamin Meadows made a few Lakewood headlines during this past week as the rookie left fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Midwest League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 14 hits in 34 at-bats to put up a .412 average. Meadows collected 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 6 runs.
So far this year Meadows is hitting .264 with 2 home runs. |
 | Friday, July 28th, 2028: Season Possibly Over for Garry Kellaway
Garry Kellaway has to call it a season. The Lakewood Blue Claws reliever sustained a season-ending injury against the St. Lucie Mets and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Kellaway was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a herniated disc and stated that he would not be able to play for 7 months.
So far this year Kellaway has been credited with 1 save, registered a 3.60 ERA and struck out 25 in 40 innings. He also has a 1-1 record.

 | Tuesday, July 4th, 2028: Cale McArdle Sidelined for Season
The doctors have spoken and Cale McArdle of the Lakewood Blue Claws didn't like what he heard. The 23-year-old second baseman is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. McArdle sustained his season-ending injury during the Great Lakes Loons game yesterday at BlueClaws Stadium. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while colliding with a player at a base. Today the Lakewood medical staff reported McArdle had a torn rib cage muscle and would be absent from the lineup for at least 8 months.
This season McArdle has banged out 30 hits in 111 at-bats for a .270 average with no home runs. He is getting on base at a .305 pace and his totals also include 13 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
