5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Luis Sánchez of the Asheville Tourists. He tore up the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Asheville 11-6 win today at Tourists Ballpark.
"Sánchez was a tough out today," the Wisconsin manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
L. Sánchez singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This season Sánchez is batting .293 with no home runs. He has scored 12 runs and driven in 19. |

José Medina ran his hitting streak to 34 straight games today at Ballpark of Hagerstown, when he collected 2 hits in 4 at-bats.
"Hey, the streak is great. I hope it never ends. But I'm not happy when we lose the game," was his comment after Hagerstown was beaten 2-1 by the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
"The scoreboard tells the whole story."
J. Medina singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th and grounded out in the 7th.

José Medina, second baseman for the Hagerstown Suns, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 33 games with 2 hits in his club's 13-5 victory today over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Ballpark of Hagerstown.
