| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, August 2nd, 2028: Holt Bewilders Hooks in Shutout "He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Corpus Christi manager after his club suffered a 3-0 shutout at the hands of Barry Holt of the Jacksonville Suns. He held the Corpus Christi Hooks scoreless in a 3-hit whitewash.
Holt was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Barry did a whale of a pitching job."
|  | Wednesday, June 7th, 2028: Travelers End Vargas's Streak All good things must come to an end -- and so it was today for Enrico Vargas as he saw his 21-game hitting streak end. He went hitless in 2 at-bats at the hands of the Travelers. It wasn't all bad for the 21-year-old left fielder and the Corpus Christi Hooks, as they defeated Arkansas 2-1 at Hooks Ballpark.
When asked about his hitting streak, a smiling Vargas laughed and said, "I guess my luck ran out today."

E. Vargas hit a two-run home run off J. Becker in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, walked in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
