Tennessee has lost catcher Randolph Gamble for at least 8 months. He was hurt in a game against the Travelers while colliding with a player at a base and sustained a fractured ankle. His doctors said Gamble will probably be out the rest of the year.
So far this year Gamble is hitting .221 with 1 home run.

 | Friday, July 21st, 2028: Carter Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 21
Tennessee second baseman Tom Carter came into today's game against the Reading Phillies on a hot streak. When it was over, the Phillies did their job very well. They beat the Tennessee Smokies 2-1 and cooled him off at the same time. Reading stopped Carter without a hit and his 21-game hitting streak came to an end.
The 22-year-old Carter only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short."
His manager commented, "What Tom did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
In 2028 Carter is batting .318 with 133 hits, no home runs, 46 RBIs, 26 walks, .364 OBP and has scored 39 runs. He has played in 102 games.

| Wednesday, July 19th, 2028: Hit Streak Now at 20 for Carter
Tennessee's 22-year-old second baseman Tom Carter has had a fine run at the plate over the last few weeks. His consecutive-game hitting streak has reached 20 games now. Today Carter extended the streak by going 1-3 against Phillies pitching. The streak has brought him a degree of attention that he has tried to deflect. Carter always prefers to talk about his teammates' accomplishments rather than his own. After the Smokies 3-0 triumph over Reading at Smokies Ballpark he downplayed his part in the victory.
T. Carter singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
In 2028, Carter is hitting .322 with 0 home runs and 46 RBIs in 100 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .367 with 25 walks and 38 runs scored.
