| Breaking News |  | Thursday, August 10th, 2028: Altoona's Smith to Miss Season
The season is finished for Bob Smith of the Altoona Curve. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Curve right fielder suffered a fractured ankle while making a defensive play in a recent game against the Harrisburg Senators. Team doctors said it would take at least 12 months to heal.
This year Smith has hit at a .265 clip with 43 RBIs, 7 home runs and 39 runs scored. |
 | Thursday, August 3rd, 2028: Curve Ramírez Lost for Year
The season is apparently over for Armando Ramírez. The Altoona Curve medical staff informed the club that the second baseman will be out at least 7 months with a ruptured medial collateral ligament. Ramírez was hurt in the game against Connecticut while running the bases. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.
Ramírez is hitting .298 this season with no home runs, 40 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 91 hits in 305 at-bats.

 | Wednesday, July 26th, 2028: Morán Strong-Arms Wichita
"I felt great out there. After the second or third inning, I got real comfortable," Víctor Morán said in his postgame interview. "Hopefully this is a building block for me. I'm hoping for a few more starts like this."
The Altoona hurler scored a 8-0 shutout victory over the Wranglers, stopping them on 1 hit. He rung up 5 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks in today's performance.
So far this season, Morán has logged a 10-4 record with a 2.81 ERA. He has started 17 games, hurled 125 innings and registered 124 strikeouts and 49 walks.
