| | Wednesday, May 3rd, 2028: Red-Hot Quintana Scorches RockHounds 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book. The latest honoree is Jacky Quintana of the Bowie Baysox.
Today he beat up their pitching to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but it was the Midland RockHounds that salvaged a 9-6 victory at Ballpark of Bowie.
"Quintana was a tough out today," the Midland manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure. I'm just glad we held everybody else in check and got the win."
Speaking to the BNN writers, Quintana added, "It was a real good day for me individually, but not a good one for the team. No loss is a good one."
J. Quintana singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off M. Martínez in the 9th.

The Midland first baseman went 5 for 5 in the game to put his name in the record book.
Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Price said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."
B. Price singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This year Price is hitting .250, produced 14 RBIs and 3 home runs, scored 15 times and gotten on base at a .307 rate. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Juan García | torn bicep muscle | 7-8 weeks | Not on DL | | CF Roy Polk | torn rotator cuff muscle | 3 months | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 38-39, .494 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 13.0 GB | | Record at home | 16-19, .457 PCT | | Record on the road | 22-20, .524 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 1-4, .200 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 8-14, .364 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 6-13, .316 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 32-26, .552 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 15-14, .517 PCT | | Record in June | 9-11, .450 PCT |
