The Cardinals can take comfort in knowing that they will not have to face Chester Reed again for a while. The 22-year-old hurler pitched a 2-hit shutout to help the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat Springfield 4-0. In the process, Reed struck out 7 and walked 0.
Currently Reed has a record of 6-0 with 55 strikeouts and 6 walks in 57 innings and a 1.74 ERA. |
 | Monday, August 7th, 2028: Baker Wins TL Player of the Week Prize
His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Roger Baker was rewarded with the Texas League Player of the Week honors.
The scrappy Springfield Cardinals first baseman hit .441 while collecting 15 hits in 34 at-bats, 2 home runs and 11 RBIs.
This season Baker is hitting at a .301 pace with 14 home runs, 70 RBIs and has scored 53 times. |
 | Tuesday, August 1st, 2028: Springfield's Wade Bags TL Batting Award
Camm Wade is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Springfield right fielder joined that select company when the Texas League announced the results of July's voting.
Wade totaled 53 hits, 4 walks, 4 home runs, 24 RBIs and 25 runs scored last month to put together a .411 batting average and .433 on-base percentage.
Presently Wade is batting .354 with 10 home runs and 39 RBIs. He has played in 67 games and scored 48 times.
