As part of this new model of FA Comp, the draft will consist of the following: R1, S1, R2, S2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8. Draft will be created with 10-11 rounds, but we will only draft above to ensure appropriate pool of players.
New FA compensation model
Class ‘A’ will be any FA signed to a Major League contract with a yearly amount of $10,000,000 or more.
Class ‘B’ will be any FA signed to a Major League contract with a yearly amount of $7,000,000 to $9,999,999.
Class ‘C’ will be any FA signed to a Major League contract with a yearly amount of $5,000,000 to $6,999,999.
These classes will apply to all FAs.
Players 34 and Over
Signed FAs the age of 34 and over will no longer require a team to give up a
pick to sign. This should help to offset some of the risk of signing older FA.
Compensation for players of this age to the team that loses the player will
be as follows.
Class 'A' - S1
Class 'B' - S2
Class 'C' - Nothing
Players Under 34
Signed FAs under the age of 34 will still require a team to give up a pick or
more to sign. This should help to compensate teams who have to let these FAs
go. Losing a FA that young is also more impactful so overall compensation to
the losing team will be greater than it is now. Compensation for players of
this age to the team that loses the player will be as follows.
Class 'A' - R1, S1, Top 15 pick is protected and will be replaced by highest available pick (including other compensation picks) in order of contract $$ given.
Class 'B' - R1, S2 Top 15 pick is protected and will be replaced only by a round 2 pick if available.
Class 'C' - R2, Pick is not protected and will not be replaced if already used.
$$ Values of contracts will determine who gets R1, R2, etc., picks. Sandwich round position will be based on standings, not contract value.
